2025 Math Challenge Tournament®
What is the Math Challenge Tournament® (MCT)?
Math Challenge Tournament is an annual national math competition that is open for Grade 2 – 5 students in all 50 states. Students in grade 1 can participate, however, they will be competing at a grade 2 division 2 level.
The 2025 Math Challenge Tournament (MCT) is an in-person only competition, hosted by schools/education centers. Schools/centers can choose one or more date/time slots between March 26th and April 5th, 2025 (inclusive) to host this competition.

Benefits For Organizing and Hosting MCT at Your School
Organizing and hosting MCT at your school is straight forward with minimal preparation and abundance of support from us. There are ample of benefits in organizing and hosting MCT at your school such as:
MCT - School Give Back Program
Education is a critical foundation to a bright future and Ellipsis Academy would like to contribute and do our part on this journey. Through the MCT give back program, eligible schools/centers that are hosting MCT will receive 20% of the tournament fee based on the number of students that participate in the tournament at the hosting schools/centers.
Throughout the years, we have given back tens of thousands of dollars to many schools nationally. If you'd like your school to consider hosting MCT, please reach out to your PTA/PTSA representative and have them contact [email protected]. We will be happy to assist and answer any questions they might have.

MCT Students Registration
General students registration for the 2025 National Math Challenge tournament will open from Jan 13 through Mar 4, 2025. If you'd like to get a notification when registration opens, please join our email list HERE.
All registered students will receive an MCT keepsake and ribbon for participating. The keepsake for 2025 MCT is TBD, please stay tune for more information.

MCT Awards
To boost students' excitement and motivation, we’ve updated the medal awards criteria. We will now award medals to the top 10% of participants (instead of top 20 students in 2024). This change allows us to celebrate the achievements of even more students.
Students who are in the top 10% in their grade level and division will earn a beautifully crafted custom Math Challenge Tournament medals. The MCT medal is specifically designed to display the 3 key pillars that are the foundations of MCT (Mathematics, Problem Solving and Critical Thinking) seamlessly integrated in a Penrose triangle.
In addition, student who scores the highest overall in their grade level and division will also earn a special MCT champion prize. The 2025 MCT Champion prize is TBD. You can find more information on this year's tournament awards HERE. You can take a look at the list from 2024 MCT top scorers HERE.

MCT Practices
MCT practice materials are available online. MCT practices consist of tournament materials from past MCT (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2024 MCT level 2 - 5 materials). These practices are available HERE and students can use them to practice for Math Challenge Tournament®. NOTE: there will be a fee of $5 per one MCT practice test. Once students have completed a practice test, an email will be sent to you containing all test questions, student's answer and the correct answers for the ones that student got incorrect.

Location: In-person only (hosted by registered schools and educational centers).
Date: Anytime between March 26 - April 5, 2025
Duration: 1 hour
Fee: $25 per student
Tournament fee is non-refundable and non-transferable - 20% of the tournament fee will be given back to participating schools through our school give back programs. For more information about the give back program, please click HERE. In addition, portion of the tournament fee will also be used to sponsor and suppport the free Math Challenge Program.

- If you are paying with a Credit Card through PayPal you might see "PAYPAL ELLIPSISACA" on your card statement
- Once registered, if there is any change needed (name, grade, division, etc.), please fill out a change request form HERE
- To uphold the integrity of the tournament, the test questions and student's answers will be released by schools/centers after April 9th, 2025.
