Competitive Math 1
Description: this class is intended for incoming 4th and 5th grade students (in Fall 2025) who are interested in strengthening their problem solving skills and preparing themselves for various math competitions. The math tasks and activities provided are designed to foster creative problem solving, extend student math knowledge and skills, and expose students to competitions similar to Math Olympiad, Math Challenge Tournament and Math Kangaroo. Total instruction time for this class is 10 hours.
Prerequisite:
- Grade: incoming 4/5 in Fall 2025.
- Self-test: to determine if this class is suitable/appropriate for your student, we recommend that students download and take the self-test. Students should be able to answer 22 questions correctly in 30 minutes (without calculator). If a student struggles with these problems, then he/she might want to consider our Ellipsis FlexMath program or a lower level class.
