2024 MCT - Important Changes
Why did we shift MCT to be in-person only tournament?
Our main goals for Math Challenge Tournament (MCT) are to create Math excitements for students and parents, foster a strong math culture in schools, and give back to the educational community through our give-back program.
Over the past three years since 2020, although we've seen participation grow nationally for MCT online, we've also noticed that online competitions, while convenient, don't quite capture the same level of involvements and excitements from schools, students, and parents. Because of this, we’ve decided to shift MCT back to be an in-person only competition.
Starting the 2023 – 2024 school year, Math Challenge Tournament will be an in-person only competition, hosted by registered schools or education centers. We believe that this shift back to in-person competition will help us create an even more vibrant and engaging math experience for everyone involved.
The 2024 Math Challenge Tournament will be hosted by registered schools/centers anytime April 10th and 20th, 2024. Students would take the test at the schools or centers where they’ve registered and they will get paper test questions and answer sheets.
This National tournament is open to all grade 2 – 5 students. Students in grade 1 can participate, however, they will be competing at a grade 2 division 2 level. In 2022, thousands of students from various states (WA, CA, NY, MD, TN, NC, AZ, CT, PA, RI, MO, etc.) participated in the online tournament.
