Math Challenge Tournament®
Online Practices
What's new with MCT practices?
All MCT practice materials are available in our online environment to closely simulate an actual tournament experience. These online practices help students to prepare both their Math skills and their familiarity with the actual tournament environment.
How many MCT practices are available?
We currently have practice tests from past MCT tournament materials (starting from 2018 to the most current MCT level 2 - 6 materials).
What are the differences between the actual tournament and the practice test?
Is there a fee for MCT Practice?
Yes, there is a non refundable fee of $5 per one MCT practice. The MCT practice tests are not downloadable or printable. However, once students have completed the practice, an email will be sent to you containing all test questions, students' answers and the correct answers.
Which practice test level should my student(s) take?
The MCT practice test level corresponds to student's grade (regardless of whether or not the student is in accelerated learning program). For example, a grade 3 student (either in regular or accelerated learning) should take MCT practice level 3. For practice test, Division (I or II) is irrelevant because both Divisions use the same level test. Division only matters for the actual tournament and it is being used to categorized students level of competitiveness (i.e. students in accelerated learning programs should register and compete in Division I and will be compared with other students in similar skill levels).
What is the requirement to take these online practice test?
Just like the actual tournament, to successfully take this online practice test, the following system's requirement must be met:

We currently have practice tests from past MCT tournament materials (starting from 2018 to the most current MCT level 2 - 6 materials).
What are the differences between the actual tournament and the practice test?
- Time Limit: the actual tournament has a 60 minutes time limit and the MCT practice has a 120 minutes time limit. Once students have started a practice test, they will have 2 hours to complete it in one sitting. If you'd like to simulate an exact test experience, you can set your own timer and have your student complete the practice in 60 minutes.
- Certificate: there is no certificate for MCT practices
- Starting the test: students can take the practice test anytime. Each practice requires a login to be created and payment to be made before starting the test. The actual tournament requires student's registration and uses passcode to start the test. You can find out more information on how to start and pay for the test below.
- Division: division (I or II) is irrelevant for practice tests because both divisions use the same level test. Division is being used in the actual tournament to categorized students level of competitiveness (i.e. students in accelerated learning programs are competing in Division 1 and will be compared with other students in similar skill levels).
